niveaux d&#8217;organisation pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des questions en biologie \u00e9volutive. Mes travaux principaux s&#8217;orientent autour des aspects \u00e9volutifs li\u00e9s \u00e0 la polyplo\u00efdie chez les cladoc\u00e8res. Nous examinons les effets des duplications chromosomiques sur la physiologie et l&#8217;\u00e9cologie des invert\u00e9br\u00e9s d&#8217;eau douce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Comment ces g\u00e9nomes divergents s&#8217;harmonisent-ils chez les nouveaux polyplo\u00efdes ?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quel est le devenir des g\u00e8nes dupliqu\u00e9s apr\u00e8s la polyplo\u00efdie ?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comment les organismes polyplo\u00efdes comp\u00e9titionnent-ils avec les esp\u00e8ces parentales pour leur \u00e9tablissement ?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quelles sont les caract\u00e9ristiques physiologiques qui expliquent le succ\u00e8s \u00e9volutif des esp\u00e8ces polyplo\u00efdes ?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce au s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du g\u00e9nome de la puce d\u2019eau,&nbsp;<em>Daphnia pulex<\/em>, nous disposons de nouveaux outils pour caract\u00e9riser les g\u00e9nomes. Ainsi, nous nous int\u00e9ressons aux g\u00e8nes qui contr\u00f4lent la taille corporelle chez les daphnies. Ce caract\u00e8re est un des plus importants en biologie \u00e9volutive puisqu\u2019il est li\u00e9 \u00e0 la valeur reproductive (fitness) et curieusement nous en connaissons tr\u00e8s peu sur les g\u00e8nes qui le contr\u00f4le.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je m&#8217;int\u00e9resse \u00e9galement aux facteurs li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;origine et au maintien de l&#8217;asexualit\u00e9. Pourquoi les organismes asexu\u00e9s affichent souvent une distribution g\u00e9ographique diff\u00e9rentes de leurs anc\u00eatres sexu\u00e9s ? Des centaines de clones de daphnies se retrouvent dans les environnements vierges de l&#8217;arctique et servent \u00e0 tester diff\u00e9rentes hypoth\u00e8se \u00e9volutives (niche congel\u00e9e, g\u00e9notype tout-usage).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les approches utilis\u00e9es dans mon laboratoire pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions comprennent une combinaison de techniques mol\u00e9culaires (allozymes, microsatellites, SSCP, s\u00e9quen\u00e7age), des mesures m\u00e9taboliques ainsi que des exp\u00e9riences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je participe \u00e9galement au projet \u00ab codebarre \u00bb initi\u00e9 par Dr. Paul H\u00e9bert de l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Guelph.
