The Institut des sciences de la mer de Rimouski (ISMER) is launching a prestigious doctoral fellowship program in oceanography. A total of $600,000 will be allocated to students over the next three years.

This scholarship program is a first in the history of UQAR–ISMER. "Recruiting Ph.D. students in oceanography is an important challenge for carrying out cutting-edge research while at the same time training the next generation of scientists. Through this program, we want the best students from Quebec, Canada, or the international community to continue their university careers with the ISMER team," explains Director Guillaume St-Onge.

To be eligible for the program, students must begin a Ph.D. in oceanography at UQAR in the fall 2020 or winter 2021 term. The thesis must be completed under the direction of a professor at UQAR–ISMER. The terms and conditions for submitting an application are available on the ISMER website.

Ten scholarships of $60,000 ($20,000 per year for three years) will be awarded to Ph.D. students in oceanography who are selected during this competition.
